Kirk Franklin has sparked some chatter with his recent Instagram post. The Gospel musician took to the photo-sharing platform to put out a picture of him and Sir the Baptist, only to find himself getting ridiculed by some people who thought that he looked a little bit too feminine in the image.
In the photo, Kirk wrapped his arm around Sir the Baptist’s shoulder as they posed for the camera together. Rocking a yellow turtleneck shirt underneath a camouflage-patterned jacket and jeans, the 50-year-old singer crossed one leg and put one of his hands in the pocket of his pants. He additionally leaned his head closer to Sir the Baptist.
Kirk wrote alongside the photo, “Pastors at the New Franklin Baptist Church! Who joining?”
Some people left positive messages in the comment section, while some others were apparently bothered by both his outfit and pose in the photo. One called him “effeminate,” while another didn’t like what s/he saw so much the user decided “to keep scrolling” because it “killed my childhood memories.” One other, meanwhile, commented, “He looks like a lesbian.”
“Kirk Franklin looks so gay,” a different individual pointed, to which one agreed, “I was thinking the same. Maybe it an agape church.” Someone else said, “Kirk looks like a little girl I used to know,” before expressing her/his concern that Kirk might be gay. “WHAT HAPPENED? I’m starting to fear for you mannn. You used to be a Christina. Remember that song. ‘Reason Why I Sing’ those were the days,” the user added. “Come back to Christ!!!! JESUS CHRIST IS STILL CALLING.”
Kirk has yet to respond to the criticism. Instead, the Grammy-winning singer updated his Instagram feed with a video of him giving a motivational speech on his way to church.
