Rihanna Collects First British Fashion Award From Janet Jackson

Rihanna was feted by her idol Janet Jackson in London on Monday, December 02, as she was honoured for her design work at the 2019 British Fashion Awards.

The “Diamonds” hitmaker claimed the Urban Luxe prize for her contributions to sportswear through her Fenty brand, and Jackson was on hand to present the accolade to the 31-year-old.

The R&B legend later took to social media to share a black-and-white snap of the stars embracing backstage at the British Fashion Council show, which she simply captioned, “Congratulations #FashionAwards.”

Supermodel Naomi Campbell was another big winner at the event, where she was named Fashion Icon, while Adut Akech landed the Model of the Year award.

Other highlights included Hollywood actresses Julia Roberts and Cate Blanchett celebrating Giorgio Armani with the Outstanding Achievement title, McQueen’s Sarah Burton taking home the Trailblazer honour, Kim Jones from Dior winning the British Designer of the Year – Menswear gong, and Bottega Veneta’s Daniel Lee taking home the equivalent prize for Womenswear, as well as the coveted Designer of the Year award.
